Arizona Croquet Club
US OPEN
Overview:
The US Open croquet tournament is an annual event hosted
by
the American Croquet Association (ACA). The ACA was founded
by
Stan Patmor to provide representation for American players in
Association Croquet (before the United States Croquet Assocition
took any interest in Association croquet for its
membership). Association Croquet is played in many
countries and its rules have been fully agreed upon by the Croquet
Associations of England, Australia, New Zealand and the United
States and these are the rules under which the MacRobertson Shield
event is played.
The US Open tournament is played at
the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, held
annually during
the
first week of December. Tournament rules follow the Laws of
Association Croquet with the addition of time limited 2 hour
games. The US Open is both competitive and
social. In most years, there are between 2 and 3
flights of
play.
The Championship Open flight is available to players of all
handicaps
but limited to the top 20 entrants in the field.
