Don Aldridge WA7RLL My father Don W. Aldridge was a lifelong amateur radio enthusiast, and sadly became a Silent Key in May of 2022 after a brief bout with cancer. I was originally licensed in the 1990s as a teenager in Arizona (KB7PWH), but acquired Don's callsign (WA7RLL) in January of 2024. Don diligently tutored my older son Tate (K1MKD) in amateur radio, and Tate now operates a home station here in Lexington MA. My wife Bree is KM1CRO (she is a microbiologist...), and my younger son Rhys was issued his first license in January 2024 as KC1UAT. My brother Joe is KC7FWO. Here at home we run an ICOM IC7600 (same radio as Dad, so that he and Tate could use the same equipment!) with a 20m wire dipole strung off the widow's walk of our home. Don W. Aldridge's QRZ biographic info is preserved here: I was first licensed during high school in Southwest Missouri as a Novice Class Amateur Radio license. I soon upgraded to General Class. After college I moved to Arizona and received my current callsign. In Arizona I upgraded to Advanced Class and finally Extra Class. Ham radio interests are DXing, CW and collecting boatanchor radios. I have a small collection of Collins equipment, several pieces of Drake equipment and a few other radios from the 50's, 60's and 70's Non radio intersets are maintaining several old tractors (mostly Farmall). I do some woodworking projects mostly centered around a wood lathe where my most important product is sawdust. Current Equipmen is an ICOM IC7600 with Palstar AT2K tuner. Antennas are a Mosley TA33 riband yagi, a Cushcraft R7 and a some dipoles. I'm a ARRL life Member, a member of local ham clubs (MARCA and CADXA) and a member of the Collins Collectors Association. Thanks for reading See ya on the air.
